Back in the day...

Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore
But somedays I sit and wish I was a kid again..
(Back in the day by Ahmad-1994)

We are going back..waaaaaaaaaaaaay back, back into time.... :-)

Who remembers THESE wonderful toys when you were a little. I personally had ALL of these pictured below. I thought I was COLORFORM cool.. There was nothing as hype as these little sets back in the day! You know DS's, Wii's, Ipods were not even thought of back then and we had to play with REAL toys. Ones that didn't require batteries. I was trying to tell my husband about them the other day and it got me to thinking about how much I loved playing with these things, they went every where I went and I played with them until the sticky on the back was all out of sticky.

I was also OBSESSED with collecting the California raisins figurines and Pound puppies.. Yep, I heard you snicker.

Back in the day, I used to have posters of super cute boys on my wall. I remember my FAV was one of Ralph Macchio.. I was also pretty dog gone crazy about this certain BOY BAND...

I had a phone like THIS in my room... Yea no super schmancy touch screens back in the OLDEN days..

I loved to watch Inspector Gadget and Jem & the Holograms while getting ready for school and I had a Shoney's Big Boy bank to store all my loot.... :-)

I rode a banana seat bike like I was a cool kid :-) Pretty sure it wouldn't fly as hip nowadays..

Some of my favorite movies were...
I was in love with Eric Stoltz and wanted to be "Miss Amanda Jones" (Lea Thompson) in the movie Some Kind of Wonderful. I remember the leech scene from Stand by Me and laughing hysterically. Here is a clip from the Goonies that still makes me crack up!!

Hope you all enjoyed my BLAST from the PAST.. I know I did... ;-)

Birthday time again!!

Here are some pics of my middle daughter and husbands bday dinner this past weekend!! We went to one of our favorite kid friendly restaurants Red Robin!!! We LOVE this place because the atmosphere is great and the burgers are mouth watering!! :-) They sang Happy Birthday to the Birthday girl and boy (much to my hubby's dismay delight! ;-) I made asked them to wear these really cheesy lovely birthday ribbon buttons so everyone knew who the guests of honors were! :-) It turned out great and we all had alot of fun!

Me and my oldest.. We look just alike!
My oldest two :-)

BUSY Weekend...sheesh.

We had a busy weekend around our house. I got off work on Friday and got home around 6pm. I changed clothes and me and the fam headed to my neighbor's house and started working on yard sale stuff. We worked until about 8:45 then we needed home to put the babe to bed. We got her in the car (the 2 oldest were staying at my neighbors so they could play with their kids and help finish set up for the yard sale) We got in my van and it wouldn't start.. :-( My hubby figured out it was the battery and we thought maybe we left the key turned in the ignition so we got it jumped off and headed to an auto parts store. They checked my battery there and said it was low. They told us to ride it around for 45 min or so and that should charge the battery. My hubby brought me and the babe home and he went back out for a ride to hopefully charge the battery. The next morning I jumped in it to head to the yard sale. It didn't want to crank for me either but after a couple of tries, it finally cranked. I drove over to my neighbors and parked the car, then decided to leave it running. I wasn't about to get stranded again. After being at the yard sale for probably 4 hours, I went BACK to the auto parts store and the man said it was best if I could bring them the battery so that they could put it on their charger and let it fully charge. I drove home, hubby took out the battery and took it back to the store, they put it on their charger and after it fully charging, they discovered that it had a short in it and I needed a new one. Whew! I was worried all along that it was something bigger than a new battery. I was relieved to know it was a quick and cheap fix.

My hubby came home and we waited on the delivery ppl to bring our new kitchen island. :-) I was so happy to see them bring it in and after they left, I spent a couple of hours rearranging my cabinets and relishing in the joy of MORE storage.. :-)

After I finished up in the kitchen, we decided to take the kids since it was Brooke's bday weekend, to Southern Adventures, which is a amusement park with mini golf. They had a great time despite the heat.. The mini golf was probably not the best idea when there is a heat advisory and you have a 16 month old that was super cranky to begin with! After bumper cars, roller coaster simulators, swings and go karts, it was FINALLY time to head home. The whole way home was another FUN experience since the radio and entire entertainment system will not work because it lost connection to the battery. So the babe screamed the WHOLE way home, bc it was dark by that time and she did not have a TV on in the car. I could not even play the radio for her. We were all ready for a time out when we got home. I came in and bathed Riley while Brooke, Emma and Brooke's friend Lindsay played in the girls room. I got the baby in bed and when I looked at the clock it was midnight.. time for bed!!

We got up this AM and I had a splitting headache. I took some sinus meds and it STILL hurt! :( We made a trip to Sam's for some snacks and microwave meals since I had not been since before the tornadoes and had to throw an entire freezer full of food away after 6 days of no power. After Sam's we came home and my MIL brought over cupcakes for B's bday. She got her Iphone last week so we gave her a few little presents and had cupcakes. I can hardly believe she is 13!! Somehow I have a teenager and I have no idea how it happened. It seems like yesterday she was born weighing 4lbs and 13 1/2 oz. She is def showing signs of being a teenager but she is a good kid. I just hope we make it through these teenage years! lol!

I am now sitting at my desk, it's 11:37pm and I still have laundry in the dryer... I am ready for next weekend where we have NOTHING planned. :-) It has been a fun but tiring. Here are a few pics from the birthday activities.. Now off to finish laundry bc 5:40 will come early in the morning.

WWTK 7/6/11

Photobucket

1) Name five of your favorite new blogs you are reading. I have come across lots of new blogs lately..Some I have not been able to really read much but I have them saved in my favorites so when I get some "down" time, I can catch up on some reading. A few not sure if its 5 or not would be...

1. Fourth grade nothing ( a must read)
2. Impulsive Addict (this gal always makes me laugh!)
3. My dishwasher's possessed ( a guaranteed giggle)
4. My friend Heather ( She is a great friend and I love to read her stuff!)
5. JennyKate's spot (not a new but def a FAV)

2) When you were a young child, or teenager, did you have an idea on how many children you wanted and what thier names would be? Did you follow through on your ideas? I always wanted twins when I was younger.. I think back then I thought you got to pick how many you had at one time.. I wanted twins ( one boy and one girl) so I could have one of every kind they made..AND only have to be preggo once.. I ended up with THREE girls... You see how my plan worked out for me... :/

3) What is the silliest thing you fight with someone about? It could be your spouse, sibling, parents, co-worker etc? Hmmmm.. I think fighting with my hubby about things only to look back hours sometimes MINUTES later only to realize he might be right... Never wanting to show immediate defeat..I usually pretend I am right for days before giving in.. ;-)

4) What is your favorite scent that others may not find very sweet? I was recently thinking how I liked the smell of all the fireworks after they were shot in our neighborhood.. I also like the smell of gasoline.. My middle daughter and I both do.. The rest of the fam thinks its GROSS.. I also like the smell of fresh cut grass.. My hubby thinks its GROSS too.. He needs his sniffer checked FO REAL! ;-)

5) What are your thoughts on plastic surgery? (Have you had it? Want it? Regrets?) I have had one procedure done and I would do it again..(Think, most ppl want bigger..I wanted smaller..get it?) I am not happy looking back at how it was done and hope once my youngest gets older, I can maybe go back and have a do-over to make me happy..

Hop over to Impulsive Addict, Mamarazzi, Janette and Shawn for more of the fun!!

We are FAMILY.. Apple FAMILY that is..

Studies show at least 22 million people own Ipods in the US. Many have joined the Apple trend and my family is no different. In our Apple family, we have 5 Ipods, 3 Iphones, 2 Apple TV devices and 1 Ipad.. The Ipad belongs to my hubby and I believe since it is the only one of it's kind in our household, it needs a buddy, but that's just me.. Hint Hint, to my wonderful husband, that might just might happen over to my blog.. ;-) We all love our Apple products. We love that we can share apps, music and videos without having to purchase them seperatly for each device.

I am obsessed with my Iphone. It keeps me connected to the world at my fingertips with just a touch. I can do most anything with my phone. I am rarely without it. :-)My latest find for my phone has been this...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game. I could play for hours and I used to, until I realized that my poor phone battery hated my new obsession and would give out if I stayed on it constantly.

Another one of my favs is this one..

Yep, I'm totally hooked on that one as well. I have finished it on my Iphone and now I am working on my hubby's Ipad. :-)

I also have the Nook app but I rarely use it because my battery seems to hate that too. I love my CNN app, and visit there daily. Oh and I can't forget Facebook and Twitter..

I have found grocery list apps, an app that allows me to take credit card payments from my phone, (which comes in great when you have a small business), ringtone converter app, coupon clipper apps and lots more.

I would love it if Blogger had an app so that I could blog from my phone... What are some of your favorite Smartphone apps? Is there one that I am missing out on and should give a try?
